6 Week Old Sleep Schedule: Let Your Baby Sleep Well!

Being a new parent, you’ll notice that your newborn sleeps a LOT throughout the day, even once they hit six weeks old! It does make you wonder what the 6 week old sleep schedule is like, worrying if they need to be fed at certain times or to leave them be for rest.

Well, not to worry, as babies don’t have sleep routines whatsoever, and it’s very rare to have a consistent schedule. They have no set 6 week old bedtime and you won’t be able to put them in a proper routine.

With that said, what’s the 6 week old sleep schedule like, or at least, what can you expect? Based on my research and experiences, I’ll be sharing you some sample schedules for 6 week old babies to help you learn about some patterns your little one may have.

6 Week Old Sleep Schedule

However, as I said, babies don’t have a routine.

While parents think that they require a strict routine for babies once they come back home. However, as I said, babies don’t have a routine. After all, you can’t schedule a baby crying in the middle of the night, nor can you expect them to begin sleeping once you want them to.

But as they continue to grow older, every day continues to be different and you’ll see a pattern start to emerge.

Remember, babies are still trying to settle down, so you might have babies feeling cranky for a few weeks! Expect them to get into a pattern and settle down only once they hit three to four months old.

But as they continue to grow older, every day continues to be different and you’ll see a pattern start to emerge. Just expect babies to still have unorganized days and schedules.

This is good to create a routine gradually, with bedtimes staying consistent once they turn at least two months old.

However, while you can’t control the 6 week old feeding schedule or exactly what time they sleep, you CAN focus on bedtime. This is good to create a routine gradually, with bedtimes staying consistent once they turn at least two months old.

While they have inconsistent schedules usually, you CAN ease them into a regular pattern. This can be beneficial for you and your little one as they grow older, so they have healthier sleeping habits and you have more quiet time! Here are some things you can consider and do for your 6 week old sleep schedule right now:

Set a Bedtime Routine

Just make sure it winds them down for sleep and that you choose a good time, keeping it consistent each night.

If you do want to build a bedtime for your baby to grow accustomed to as they age, then I recommend you have a bedtime routine. It can be through having a bath, feeding, telling a story, playing music, or cuddling. Just make sure it winds them down for sleep and that you choose a good time, keeping it consistent each night.

While they won’t fall asleep at the set bedtime always, nor will it happen immediately, don’t worry. Having a goal and set time is already a start, as well as trying to set up the routine.

What’s Their Awake Time?

Babies would express this through cries and wails, which we’re trying to avoid!

Another important thing to consider is keeping them awake. Babies are just like us, and if we’re awake inconsistently and for long periods without much sleep, we get cranky. Babies would express this through cries and wails, which we’re trying to avoid!

While you CAN set a schedule for when they’re awake, it’s best to let them sleep throughout the day. Let them listen to their bodies and have them stay well-rested, especially since they require more sleep than us adults.

They don’t need to spend time playing but focus more on eating and sleeping well.

You’ll see some good awake times for babies in the sale schedule below. This can help you consider how to ease your little one into a regular pattern of both sleeping and feeding. They don’t need to spend time playing but focus more on eating and sleeping well.

If your baby tends to sleep later into the night, you might want to consider basing your plan with this.

Like mentioned, a 6 week old baby schedule isn’t as consistent until they get older. Here’s another sample 6 week baby schedule to see what else you can expect:

⁃7AM: Feed

⁃8:15AM: Nap

⁃10AM: Wake up and feed

⁃11:15AM: Nap

⁃1PM: Wake up and feed

⁃2:15PM: Nap

⁃4PM: Wake up and feed

⁃5:15PM: Nap

⁃6PM: Wake up and feed

⁃7PM: Bath and bed routine

⁃7:30PM: Bedtime

⁃8PM: Cluster feed and back to bed

So with this schedule, you can wake up and feed them before they go back to bed again. It’s a similar plan, though with a slightly later bedtime, which can work for certain schedules, especially for those who work later at night.
